Since September of 1991, the Caring Community Hospice of Cortland has been renting office space at 4281 N. Homer Ave., in Cortland, NY. Space is limited and privacy is difficult, limiting the most sensitive of conversations. Lack of conference room and counseling space hinders the teamwork that is essential to the delivery of care and complicates the privacy needs of visiting family members. Often, training sessions and volunteer meetings are held off-site due to lack of adequate space.

To alleviate these problems, the Hospice Foundation of Cortland County, Inc. decided in 1998 to build a Headquarters and Volunteer/Community Education Center for the Caring Community Hospice of Cortland. Many factors went into deciding to build a new office building instead of renovating an existing one. Primarily, it was agreed by all involved that for families coming into the Hospice office to feel like they are entering a warm, friendly environment, like their home.

In April of 1999, land was purchased on Kennedy Parkway in the city of Cortland to be used as the site of our new office. It is centrally located and provides easy access from all parts of the county. Construction on the new facility began in March 2000. To fund the land purchase, new construction, and engineering fees, $450,000 will be needed. The Hospice Foundation is now accepting donations, pledges can be made over a three year period. Donations of any size are greatly appreciated. Please help us provide the kind of service you and your family deserve.
