About Hospice

Hospice is a specialized way of caring for people with life-limiting illnesses and the ones who love them in a manner that affirms the quality of life throughout the last phases of an illness. Hospice services are designed to provide comfort, education and support to everyone involved.

People of all ages, from infants to the very elderly, are served by hospice in the home setting of the person's choosing, whether that be their own home, family home, adult home, disability home, nursing home and even the hospital as needed.

Our hospice professional staff and trained volunteers provide for physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs through regular visitation. Services include the provision of registered nurses, social work counseling, pastoral support, aide assistance, nutritional counseling, specialized therapy, volunteer visitation and bereavement support.

Hospice provides all medication, medical supplies and medical equipment necessary to manage the illness to maximize the person's comfort and functional level. Whatever is important to that person becomes important to hospice.

Medicare and Medicaid pay for hospice service with no out-of-pocket expense to you. Private insurance plans also usually cover hospice service, most cover in full. Questions about eligibility or your particular coverage can be researched on your behalf through the hospice office.

People are certified (made eligible) for hospice service to begin when their attending physician makes a determination that an illness has progressed to the point that life is measured in months rather than years. Service provision is based upon the person's medical condition and unique situation.

Anyone can make a referral to hospice- you, a family member, a friend, a doctor, another health care agency. Referral doesn't mean that service is desired for sure, it simply means that information gets exchanged so options for care and service can be known.

Contact hospice with any questions or to make a referral. We're just one call away.
