Who pays for Hospice?

Studies have shown hospice care to be less expensive than conventinal care during the last six months of life. This is because less high-cost technology is used and family and friends provide much of the day-to-day care at home.

Medicare, Medicaid and most insurance plans provide hospice care coverage.

Hospice will bill your insurance directly.

Hospice care is provded regardless of ability to pay.

No one shall be denied service because of race, color, creed, national origin, age, sex, handicap or source of payment.

Although hospice services are often covered by insurance, such payments rarely cover the full cost of care. Hospices must therefore rely to a great extent on community support.
